Construction

Construction law is a vast body of law that deals with matters relating to building construction and a long list of other fields. Construction law relates to legal issues including contract law, bonds and bonding, guarantees and sureties, liens and other security interests, tendering, construction claims, and related consultancy contracts. construction law affects many participants in the construction industry, including financial institutions, surveyors, architects, builders, engineers, construction workers, and planners.

Here at Shackleton & Hazeltine we are not a one-dimensional law firm; we have attorneys that have handled the complete spectrum of construction related issues. We believe that to best represent our clients, we must utilize all our combined experience and knowledge both in the legal community and any related fields.  When it comes to construction law, we are not limited to the legal aspect; we have years of actual hands-on experience so we know the ins-and-outs of the field.

We are experienced in contract preparation and/or review.  We represent builders and homeowners alike. The aftermath of Super Storm Sandy has created a building and rebuilding frenzy along the entire coast.  This frenzy has created a high demand for qualified contractors. This frenzy has also caused builders and homeowners to expedite the contract and negotiation phase of the projects. This haste is a bad practice for both sides. Not having a good contract in place hurts both the builder and the homeowner. It is better to invest in proper contract formation than to litigate at the end of the project. A small investment in having a contract properly prepared and executed can save a tremendous amount of time and resources down the road.

Please feel free to contact us if we can be of service with any of your construction-related needs.
